His career spans leadership roles within national organizations, ownership of a multi-site hospice startup in Ohio, and consulting work helping hospice providers strengthen operations and sustainability. Throughout every chapter, Darrell has remained focused on one mission, ensuring patients and families receive compassionate, dignified end-of-life care.

Darrell’s calling to hospice began with his Great Uncle Frank. During his uncle’s final days, Darrell witnessed firsthand what happens when families face the end of life without support, guidance, or comfort. That experience shaped his life’s work and continues to anchor his commitment to ensuring no family walks that road alone. As Executive Director, Darrell leads day-to-day operations with clarity, compassion, and presence, fostering a culture where teams feel valued and supported so they can deliver exceptional care in return. He believes excellent hospice care means patients and families feel heard, prepared, and never abandoned, and that every interaction preserves dignity and honors what matters most. Through his leadership, Darrell strives to ensure families leave their journey with Luminary feeling comforted, supported, and at peace, knowing they were never alone when it mattered most.

My brightest moment has been watching the Akron team truly embody what Luminary stands for. There wasn’t one single event, it was realizing we were showing up for patients and families with intentional, compassionate presence.
