Everett Linton, an 88-year-old patient of Luminary Hospice of Cincinnati, had spent nearly a year apart from his wife, Patricia. Both live with dementia, but as Patricia’s condition became more severe and required care at another facility, opportunities to be together became increasingly difficult.
On August 22, Everett was able to make the journey to see her in a way that reflected who he has always been. With the support of his care team at Luminary Hospice and the team at Majestic Care of Fairfield Assisted Living in Fairfield, Ohio, where Patricia resides, a nostalgic ride in a semi-truck was arranged, a meaningful nod to the decades Everett spent as a truck driver.
The reunion itself was quiet and deeply human. Though dementia shaped the moment, their connection remained present, offering a reminder that love and belonging endure even as memory changes.
