Become a Luminary Hospice volunteer.

Volunteering with Luminary is a rewarding way to bring support and comfort to the lives of hospice patients and their families. A volunteer visit can provide patients with companionship, boost their self-esteem, and decrease loneliness.

Our volunteers are specially trained but do not provide direct patient care, give medications, or make medical decisions. As an invaluable resource to patients and families, you will bring a friendly smile, warm conversation, a hand to hold or offer a welcome respite for a family member. A volunteer coordinator takes time to get to know about you and your life passions to ensure the best match to maximize the reward for both you, the volunteer, and the patient. Some volunteers choose direct patient support while others work behind the scenes at the office or with the hospice team.

Volunteer requirements.

Our patients’ health and safety is our top priority so we may provide a great environment for the patient and volunteers. All volunteers must complete the steps below and special training before meeting with patients. If you have any questions or believe any of these requirements may be a barrier to you volunteering, please contact us.
